Torlon PAI at Greenville / Where it fits
Where it fits

From a spectrum in the process to a tag in your DCS.

Inline means the probe sits in the line or vessel and measures the medium directly. The analyzer cabinet sits near the measurement point, at a location agreed in the feasibility report, and each value reaches the control system seconds after the spectrum is taken.

01Installation points

Three kinds of point in a PAI process.

One cabinet serves two points as standard, with more on request. The feasibility report recommends which two come first.

Agitated reactor vessel (illustrative)Point A

Reaction medium

Reaction progress read through the batch, where pressure, temperature and location fit the probe rating.

Spectrally X1 INLINE cabinet next to process pipingPoint B

Liquid streams after the reaction

Solvent content read in the line or tank, correlated in the study with residual solvent in the powder.

Spectrally X1 PROBE installed on a process linePoint C

Powder and pellets

A fingerprint check of powder lots and compounds, at-line, with the probe configured for powders and granulates.

Pressure, temperature and location of each candidate point are checked in the feasibility workshop against the probe rating: up to 16 bar and −40 to +125 °C. The probe connects to the cabinet by optical fiber, on a flange, Tri-Clamp or retractable holder. Wetted-material compatibility with your solvent and by-products is part of the same check.
02Self-cleaning probe

The window stays clean on a timed cycle.

Polymer solutions and suspensions leave deposits on an optical window over a campaign. The retractable module takes the probe out, rinses the window and returns it, on a schedule set for each point.

Return
The window is cleaned on a retract, rinse and return cycle while the analyzer keeps its place in the line. Calibration runs automatically against a reference built into the probe.
03Into your control system

A value in the DCS, with the spectrum stored beside it.

Each reading arrives as an ordinary process tag.

Modbus

Into the DCS

Reaction progress, solvent content and flags as tags, with alarm limits set in Spectrally OS.

PASS/FAIL

Flags on the batch

Each spectrum is classified against the batch specification, and the flag goes to the same control system.

Record

A file per batch

Results and raw spectra stored locally, exportable as CSV, PDF or raw data, with role-based access.

04Path to the line

From your samples to a value in the DCS in 3 to 5.5 months.

The steps are the same for every process; the timing for Greenville is set in the feasibility report.

Feasibility workshop

A working session with your technology, production and quality people: measurement points, analytes and the KPIs that matter on your line.

about 3 hours

Feasibility study

We measure 3 to 5 representative batches or samples in the Gekko lab, build the calibration models and quantify the gain as a documented scenario on your data.

about 4 weeks

Installation

Probe and cabinet on the selected line, validation against your laboratory, operator training and integration with your control system.

6 to 12 weeks

Scale-up

Further measurement points once the first one runs on its model, on the same software layer and the same service team.

3 to 5.5 months to the first running point
