Concentration and Dilution Calculator
Two daily laboratory calculations in one place: solution dilution (C₁V₁ = C₂V₂) and concentration unit conversion (mol/L, g/L, mg/L, % w/v, ppm).
Dilution — C₁ · V₁ = C₂ · V₂
Leave one field blank — we will calculate it. Concentrations in the same unit, volumes in the same unit.
Concentration unit converter
Enter concentration in any unit — the rest will be converted automatically. For mol/L, provide the molar mass.
Note: ppm ≈ mg/L applies to dilute aqueous solutions (density ≈ 1 g/mL). % (w/v) = g/100 mL.
Spectrally does this. Do you want to control concentration in the process without taking samples to the laboratory? Let’s discuss your case.
Formulas and assumptions
C₁·V₁ = C₂·V₂ → V₁ = C₂·V₂ / C₁
g/L = (mol/L)·M · mg/L = 1000·g/L · %(w/v) = g/L ÷ 10 · ppm ≈ mg/L (aqueous)
Mass-volume conversions assume solvent density ≈ 1 g/mL. For concentrated or non-aqueous solutions, use the actual density.
Have a sample you don’t want to guess about?
We conduct feasibility studies even on the most challenging samples — on your material, at your site. Leave your contact, and we will review your case and tell you directly whether Spectrally can measure it.
